Osaka Castle, one of the most well-known castles in Japan, was built around 1585 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. After the death of Hideyoshi, the castle was attacked by Tokugawa’s army led by Tokugawa Ieyasu in the summer Siege of Osaka in 1615. The castle fell to Tokugawa, and the Toyotomi clan perished. The great renovation done in 1997 has successfully brought back Osaka Castle’s original beauty.
